Satellite Internet

Satellite Internet systems offer high speed (broadband) Internet access to almost anywhere with a southern view of the sky!  Satellite Internet systems bring high speed Internet access to areas where DSL, Cable Internet and other services cannot reach by sending and receiving Internet service via satellite.  There is no need for a telephone line, other than for support, should you need it.

Most satellite Internet systems consist of either a 28" - 39" oval,.74m oval satellite dish mounted on a wall mount bracket, or a .98m round, 1.0m round or 1.2m round satellite dish mounted on a pole or "ground" mount, a non-penetrating roof mount.

A transmitter / receiver unit is located on the satellite dish arm, and an indoor unit (modem) is placed somewhere inside. Usually a dual run of RG6 coaxial cable (one for transmit, one for receive) connects the transmitter / receiver to the modem.  The modem then connects to a computer network hub or to a wired or wireless router via an Ethernet connection.

Galaxy Broadband - HughesNet Satellite Internet

HughesNet is currently the most popular satellite Internet system used by residential and small business consumer’s through-out the US and Canada. HughesNet is a two-way satellite Internet system that sends and receives Internet Access via one of several satellites on our southern horizon.  HughesNet offers two dish sizes to fit your needs and service plans.  The typical residential dish is a .98m dish, while the commercial version is a  1.2m dish.  The HughesNet system includes the satellite dish, transmitter / receiver and satellite modem that provides a LAN connection to a computer or wired / wireless router, etc.  HughesNet does not use Spot beam technology and therefore, once a system is activated (commissioned), it could be moved and used in other parts of the U.S., Canada  and where-ever the satellite footprint offers adequate signal strength, which makes the HughesNet system popular among RV'ers and those wishing to use the service in more than one location.
