STATUS: FULL-TIME, PERMANENT
The Installation Technician is responsible for installing a variety of mobile radio communications equipment in on and off road motor vehicles at the Tridon Communications’ shop and customer sites. They will also diagnose minor communication system problems, and repair or replace malfunctioning equipment.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Install and/or remove electronic equipment ( two-way radios, CB radios, cellular telephones, hands-free kits, AVLs, GPS, boosters, etc.) in customer vehicles using air, power and hand tools, along with technical information and shop service procedures

Build special components to accommodate the installation of necessary equipment in vehicles (car harnesses, brackets for radio equipment, etc.)

Troubleshoot malfunctions of electronic equipment and installations in vehicles in order to diagnose and correct operational problems

Repair electronic equipment and installations in vehicles to restore equipment installations to optimal operating conditions

Operate installed equipment in order to test or demonstrate equipment

Perform regularly scheduled maintenance and repairs on vehicle communications equipment installations in order to ensure maximum reliability and performance using solvents, lubricants, tools and technical manuals

Make minor repairs to shop equipment to maintain performance

Document all equipment installations and repairs performed, recording work completed on appropriate work orders

Operate vehicles, moving them into and out of the shop in order to perform work functions

Fabricate wiring harnesses to specifications for installation into vehicles

Travel to customer sites to install equipment in vehicles at their location, as required, following all customer required training and procedures

Recommend changes in shop operations or procedures in order to expedite repairs and installations of vehicle equipment

Participate in all company required training including passing MECP certification within the probationary period
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
High School Diploma
Mobile Electronics Certified Professional (MECP) Certificate considered an asset
Experience and Training Knowledge of the basic principles of electronics and electronic mobile communications equipmentValid Alberta Class 5 Operator’s License or equivalent Recent Driver’s Abstract will be required upon condition of employment
