JOB SUMMARY

Tridon Communications is currently hiring Service Technicians for a multi-year project in northeastern Alberta.  Candidates must be willing for work a rotational schedule of 7 days on followed by 7 days off, which may include some on call.   Camp accommodations and flights will be provided from Calgary and Edmonton.  Successful candidates would be responsible to program, install, test, troubleshoot, and repair communications equipment at the repair centre and job site. Service Technicians who are certified for tower work will also erect towers, and install antennas and cabling at heights over 3 metres.

QUALIFICATIONS 

Education 

High School Diploma

Diploma or Certificate in Electronics Engineering Technology/Technician or suitable combination of education and experience

Electronics Technician Association, International (ETA-I) Associate Level Certification

Mobile Electronics Certified Professional (MECP) Certificate

CET(a) 

Experience and Training

Valid Construction Safety Training System (CSTS) certificate including generic WHMIS Training

Current Standard First Aid training including Level C CPR (Red Cross, St. Johns Ambulance or Heart and Stroke)

H2S Alive (OSSA accredited)

Aerial Work Platform (OSSA accredited)

Tower Climbing and Rescue certificate considered an asset

Confined Space Entry Training certificate (OSSA accredited)

Fall Protection (OSSA accredited)

ATV Training (OSSA Accredited)

Knowledge of occupational hazards and safe work requirements (OH&S)

Knowledge of hand and power tools, test equipment and design/fabrication techniques

Valid Alberta Class 5 Operator’s License or equivalent

Recent Driver’s Abstract will be required upon condition of employment

Physical Demands

The Service Technician must be able to spend the majority of the day sitting, walking, and/or standing.  They may be required to stoop, bend, kneel and squat for extended periods of time. They also may be required to carry equipment weighing up to 30lbs for short distances.
