In telecommunications, a path profile is a graphic representation of the physical features of a propagation path in the vertical plane containing both endpoints of the path, showing the surface of the Earth and including trees, buildings, and other features that may obstruct the radio signal.

 

This profile is the beginning of a process to predict and document possible propagation losses utilizing various Path Loss software, current digital elevation data, site specific information and local area knowledge regarding the local environment to generate area coverage maps or point to point predictions.
