JOB SUMMARY – This is a permanent Full-Time position based out of our Fort McMurray Office. Tridon is searching for passionate customer and team focused individuals with 5 to 10 years of inventory and shipping/receiving experience that are quick and eager to learn.

Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, the Inventory Technician is responsible for supporting Tridon Communications inventory operations, specifically in materials management. The Inventory Technician has responsibilities around inventory handling, identifying and cataloguing parts, receiving, inspecting, counting, picking, sorting and selling. They provide the primary response to internal and external customer inquiries/concerns about inventory and provide excellent customer service.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Promote and Maintain Customer Relationships

Provide excellent customer service by:

  • Responding to requests for information (e.g. stock status, features, cost, availability, etc.) regarding inventory in a timely manner
  • Responding to inquiries and concerns about parts, and provide advice as required
  • Documenting and processing orders

Process and Maintain Inventory

  • Assist in the receiving and unloading of goods: ensure that they match documents, verify that the goods are intact, report any defects and accurately entering appropriate data in Tridon Communication’s business systems
  • Communicate with Purchasing on variances upon goods receipt and open cases with vendors accordingly
  • Process goods return per vendor requirement and Tridon work flow
  • Conduct inventory cycle and periodic counts as required, ensuring that what is physically available matches with what is in the system, and investigate discrepancies and adjust errors
  • Manage project/job orders within the warehouse by ensuring they are stored properly, with proper documentation created when project/job materials leave and are returned to the warehouse
  • Tag, mark or label inventory and project items and store goods according to the designated system of storage in the warehouse
  • Retrieve inventory for order fulfillment by accurately locating and picking products in inventory, packaging and labeling as required, arranging transportation and completing related documentation, and accurately entering appropriate data in Tridon Communication’s business systems
  • General organization of parts and inventory shelves and racks, including labeling, proper binning and general cleanliness

Warehouse and Equipment Maintenance

  • Ensure inventory products are stored in an orderly manner that facilitates ease of access, and that warehouse area is kept organized and clean
  • Conduct necessary inspections and maintenance of inventory equipment to ensure its continued safe operation

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • High School Diploma
  • Parts Technician Ticket or enrollment in Parts Technician Post-Secondary program is considered a definite asset but not required.

Experience and Training

  • 5 to 10 years of experience working in Inventory, Rentals or Supply Chain
  • Class 5 Drivers Licence required, drivers abstract will be requested upon hire
  • Related customer service experience
  • Knowledge of best in class practices used in warehousing operations
  • Knowledge of safety standards related to office, shop and store environments
  • Knowledge of products and services offered by Tridon Communications would be considered an asset

SKILLS

  • Proficient in computer application programs such as Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook), and computer databases
  • Strong internal/external customer service skills, including ability to deal effectively and courteously with the public even in difficult situations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Effective at building/maintaining relationships
  • Strong organization and attention to detail, such as part records/catalogues and electronic inventory systems
  • Independent problem solving and decision making abilities
  • Ability to grasp new techniques and to remain calm in stressful situations

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT

The Inventory Technician will work in an office/warehouse environment. They may be exposed to outdoor weather conditions, and moderate to loud noise levels. In town travel for job-related activities may be required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The Inventory Technician must be able to spend the majority of the day sitting and/or standing. Stooping, bending, kneeling, squatting, and carrying will be required for short distances with weight up to 50lbs. The incumbent will be also required to look at a computer screen for long periods of time.
