JOB SUMMARY

The Service Manager is responsible to manage the effective operations of the Service Department in their assigned areas, while being fully committed to the success of Tridon Communications. They will accomplish this through leading, delegating, supporting, and overseeing all work related activities of the Technical Service Staff.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

·         Lead a team of service technicians to execute on various scopes of work, solve customer communications problems and to surpass customers’ expectations

·         Assist in the development and implementation of departmental goals, objectives, policies and procedures

·         Lead the investigation and correct service related errors and areas that need improvement

·         Conduct job observations and quality control audits of technical staff

·         Facilitate employee development and training

·         Lead by example and provide employees with mentorship and guidance

·         Quote all service work either directly to customers or through sales for serialized products

·         Review quotes and projects before implementation

·         Review all service related actual to estimate data after the completion of service quotes or for quoted projects

·         Facilitate and lead all work activities in assigned areas

·         Ensure all data from technicians are submitted and entered into the business system accurately and in a timely manner including LEM’s, work orders, incidents, etc.

·         Ensure service related invoicing is completed in a timely manner

·         Review and approve service order input

·         Facilitate weekly toolbox talks

·         Maintain cleanliness and organization of service shop and bay areas

·         Ensure equipment inspections, maintenance, and service is completed (Fleet Vehicles and Company Tools)

·         Ensure there are regular team meetings to communicate all applicable company information

·         Ensure safety and maintenance deficiencies identified in Safety inspections are corrected in a timely fashion

·         Maintain strong customer relationships and solicit feedback from customers on completion of work to ensure customer satisfaction is maintained at a high level

·         Solicit and follow up on new opportunities, whether for service, sales or any other department

·         Perform pre and post job scrubs

·         Stay abreast of new trends and innovations in telecommunications, and adjust service offerings to accommodate them

·         Monitor Service and other company metrics, taking actions for improvement

·         Monitor productivity; liaise at the start and end of each day to get job/task status updates

·         Emphasis on advanced planning and anticipating roadblocks in order to prevent them or prepare accordingly

·         Work with Manager to support fiscal responsibility of the team

·         Adhere to and enforce the Corporate Health & Safety program and ensure all Technical Services Staff adhere to its rules, policies, processes, practices and procedures

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Diploma or Bachelors Degree in Electronics Engineering Technology, Wireless System Engineering Technology or Communication Technician Certificate required. A combination of relevant education and experience will also be considered

 

Experience and Training

·         3 + years of experience as a supervisor and/or manager in telecommunications installation and service

·         5 + years of direct hands on experience in Radio and Two-Way communications

·         Remote Management experience a definite asset

·         Equivalent on the job experience acquired within a related technology service based business. 

·         Knowledge of products and services offered by Tridon Communications

·         Knowledge of the theories, principles, and practices of planning required for program and project development

·         Safety standards related to office, shop and store environments

·         Valid Alberta Class 5 Operator’s License or equivalent

Physical Demands

The Service Manager must be able to spend the majority of the day sitting and/or standing.  They may be required to stoop, bend, kneel and squat for extended periods of time; and carry equipment weighing up to 50lbs for short distances. The incumbent will also be required to look at a computer screen for extended periods of time. There is a possibility of eye and/or joint strain related to operating computer equipment.
