Path Studies

Path Studies

A Path Study investigates the path or route a radio signal takes from transmitter to receiver. The path it takes can be simple or complex, and understanding it is a key part in learning your actual coverage area, potential dead spots, and building a reliable communications system.

Here’s how Tridon engineers conduct a path study.

  1. We begin with a software-driven examination of the area in which communications will take place.
  2. From this examination we develop a theoretical coverage area.
  3. Our communication technicians then conduct a “drive test.” They literally drive to various points within the theoretical coverage area to test radio signal integrity and confirm the actual coverage area.
  4. The Path Study is then used by our customer to make data-driven decisions about communication needs, budget and timelines.
